So I just finished reading a graphic novel (collection of previously printed singular issues, rather than a novel written in the graphic style). It was good. I enjoyed it. But the problem with comics for me lately is that I read one and all I want is more. Doesn't have to be the same or linear or anything. Its like empty calories. I just want more.

I would like to point out how much I like that I can get comic/graphic novels from the library. Its awesome. I've been asking for it since I was like 8 or 10.

Thinking about this led me to think that I would really like the library to purchase more graphic novels. But of course they are under the restrictions of budgeting and that makes since. It doesn't mean I can't want them to have more.

So I'm adding to my list of things to do when I win the lottery. start a non-profit organization that will build the largest library of graphic novel and comics to lend in the world. Also it would support already existing organizations in increasing their own collections.

Also on the note of what to do when I get money, Nicole and I have been tossing around some cool ideas for a house design. Mixing green tech and practices, creative design, personal ascetics and our unique lifestyle :). I am going to work up a model using Google Sketchup. Maybe soonish. I'd like to learn the program better.

On the subject of my crazy ideas....I want to turn a Tinkerbell Bubble Bath Bottle (http://tinyurl.com/52lac2) that we bought Lala into a lamp and I think I've found some really cool tech to use to do it. If you read Make Magazine or their blog (which I do), then you've probably heard of arduino (http://www.arduino.cc/). There is a LED that you can program with an Arduino and then will run whatever pattern you tell it to as long as it has power. Basically most of the hard stuff is done for you, but you still get to do some soldering and programing fun. You offset the knowledge and the work with $ but its not too expensive and I think training wheels are in order for me and electronics. I've never done as much as I would like with them. Arduino may just be the thing to get me into messing around with it.

long over due

So, I've been meaning to post a real update type post for months. I still haven't. But here is something anyway.

We had a good weekend. Friday we went to a baseball game in Edenton (the "Steamers," Its a college summer league). Hot dogs and Snow Cones and a good time but we cut out early due to the lateness of the hour. Saturday we spent too much time enjoy our sound side accommodations, ie we played in the water too long and all got burnt. While in the water though, we dug up some clams and tried out my mother's kayak. X and I both found that we really like kayaking and are going to give it a longer trial in the near future.

Dinner Saturday night was a feast of Clams, scallops, pasta and broccoli. Nicole and I ditched out on desert (Homemade Rhubarb Cream Pie) and instead headed to the movie theater. We saw the 4th Indiana Jones and really enjoyed it.

Sunday morning was laundry and packing to go. Over the weekend though we did start discussing a trip back to Michigan in July :D
